Application Calendar
The application process can be a very overwhelming task which is why you should know what to do and when exactly to do it. By following a schedule you will be able to ensure that your application gets processed and that you secure a place at your school of choice.
The first thing you will need to do is visit the schools that you would potentially like to attend. This could be done a few months before the academic year starts or ideally the beginning of the summer term. You should see what the school can offer you in terms of subjects, not only for the first year but for the years after that. This would be useful because you will be able to see what you will be learning and to see if it is of interest to you. If you know from the beginning you may have the opportunity to choose a different subject that you will find more beneficial to you. If you cannot visit the school then you should ring up the school and ask for an information pack. Information can also be found on the internet too.
After you have researched schools, you should then finalise your list of choices. You should divide the list into schools that you would like to go to, a list of schools that you would not like to attend a list of "safety schools". Safety schools are schools which maybe would not be your first choice but if you did not obtain a place in your first selection you could attend one of your safety choices.
Once you have finalised your choices and maybe have a "final 3" you should start applying. Schools may differ in when you should start applying so this is something you will need to research in the beginning of the application process. However you should give yourself plenty of time so that there are no delays with your application. Your school should then contact you either by phone or mail if you have secured a place with them.
Who knows, if you have submitted an excellent application you may have the opportunity to study at one of the most top rated private schools in the country.
